What an insane world. The Mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012 (I can't remember the exact date, I think it was December). We'll be lucky if we make it that long.
There seems to be a great sense of vertigo occuring along the fault line lately.

From reading that Brief History of Everything book,it seems like all the major volcanoes and fault lines are ready to erupt and that it is past time for a catastrophic hit by a asteroid. So maybe the Mayans have got it right.
